In the United States, millions of undocumented immigrants face enormous obstacles in accessing adequate health care. Fear of deportation, lack of language services, structural racism and the absence of culturally competent care exclude entire communities from the basic right to health care.
In the face of this reality, community clinics have emerged as true spaces of refuge. Beyond providing medical and mental health care, these clinics are creating environments of protection, belonging and hope. With services that do not discriminate based on immigration status, incorporate accessibility for people with disabilities, and respect linguistic and cultural diversity, these initiatives promote dignity and well-being for all people.
This event will bring together community health professionals who are making a difference at the grassroots in the United States and Mexico. We will explore how their work challenges policies of exclusion and strengthens resilient and healthy migrant communities.
