Beyond the Silence: What Our Communities Tell Us About Mental Health Access

2026

Access to mental health remains scarred by deep barriers in our communities: misinformation, stigma, fear, and lack of adequate resources.

The Bienestar: Estar Bien project aims to respond to these challenges by strengthening community organizations through education and training in mental health, including Mental Health First Aid training and workshops adapted to our cultural realities.

After a year of implementation, this webinar presents the main findings collected from participants and organizations, offering a direct look at the real experiences, challenges, and needs around access to mental health services.

In this space, we will explore:

  • Barriers such as language, cost, and lack of access.
  • The impact of stigma and fear.
  • Cultural disconnections in health services.
  • Community strategies that are creating real change

This event also marks the launch of the project's first-year report, which highlights key data and testimonies that reflect the voices of our communities.

Panelists:

  • Zory Ávila, Alianza Americas
  • Alejandra Menéndez, Centro San Bonifacio
  • Jennifer Brothers, Departamento de Salud Pública del Condado de Cook

Moderator: Dulce Guzmán, Alianza Americas.

Join this conversation and learn how, from our communities, paths to well-being are being built.

In addition to the webinar, we invite you to delve into the work of the Bienestar: Estar Bien project and explore the full first-year report, where you will find data, learnings, and testimonies that expand on what was shared in this space.
