With support from Cook County Health, Alianza Americas launched Bienestar: Estar Bien to reduce barriers to mental health care through community-based education, outreach, capacity building, and resource navigation. The project included mental health workshops, Adult Mental Health First Aid certification trainings, educational materials, community resource mapping, and data collection to better understand the challenges Latino communities face when accessing care.Through our network model, Alianza Americas collaborated with two trusted community organizations —Centro Romero and Centro San Bonifacio— to create safe spaces where community members could openly discuss mental health, access information in Spanish, and connect with culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The project also strengthened the capacity of local organizations to continue leading mental health outreach in their own communities.​This report highlights the project’s first nine months of implementation, and shares key findings from community surveys, including the barriers many Latino families continue to face when seeking mental health services — such as stigma, affordability, language access, and lack of culturally responsive care.
