Chicago, September 9, 2026. Salvadoran beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and their families continue to live in uncertainty.

Under the law, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security was required to announce a decision on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador no later than July 11, 2026, sixty days before the program’s scheduled expiration date. To date, the administration has not published the official notice.

To date, the administration has not issued a formal announcement or official communication through the Department of Homeland Security or any other official channel about the future of TPS for El Salvador. In the absence of an official decision, thousands of families remain without the clear, complete, and timely information they need to make decisions about their jobs, their families, and their future.

TPS holders deserve the same respect and certainty as anyone else. They should not be forced to navigate rumors, leaks, or informal statements to understand what will happen to their immigration status.

Alianza Americas calls on Secretary Mullin to comply with the law and publish an official decision that provides clarity to affected communities.

We will continue to closely monitor any official developments and will wait for the publication of the official notice before sharing additional information with our member organizations and the broader community.
