Sarai Portillo executive director Alabama Coalition for Justice and Immigrants, she joined the staff of the Miami Workers Center in October 2005 after graduating·the Center’s summer 2005 Organizers Training Program.·A native of Mexico, she built the grassroots membership council Miami en Accion (Miami in Action – MIA) back in 2006. MIA’s biggest accomplishment was to revitalize the Dorothy Quintana community Center at the Roberto Clemente park, in Wynwood, a predominately puertorican neighborhood.. Saraí came to MWC with organizing experiences in Mexico within the student movement. She is an Anthropologist from ENAH (Escuela National De Anthropologia e Historia) and·has completed her thesis on the Immigrant Movement Struggles in the United States for the Last Decade. After being Program Director for over 3 years, Saraí is currently leading MWC as the Interim Executive Director. Sarai currently serves at the ACLU-AL board as well.
