Spanish-Language PSAs for Pro-Immigration Actions Hit Airwaves
PSA on Oct. 5th National Day of Dignity and Respect Calls on Latino Voters and Immigrant Community to Turn Out and Mount Pressure on House Leadership
WASHINGTON, DC – As Speaker Boehner and House Republicans continue the Capitol Hill logjam, the broad pro-immigration reform movement is launching a national, Spanish-language public service announcement (PSA) campaign to turn out the Latino community for the October 5th National Day of Dignity and Respect—the beginning of the immigration rights movement’s escalation in more than 80 major mobilization efforts, rallies, vigils, pilgrimages, and direct actions across the country.
The “Oct. 5th Dignity and Respect” PSA calls on Latino voters and immigrant communities to join tens of thousands of immigration supporters in one of 100 events in their cities. In collaboration with major Spanish-language media networks, PSAs will run in national and local television and radio markets.
“We unite our voices to demand immigration reform. It’s time that we put an end to the deportations that separate thousands of families. And this is the moment to demonstrate the strength of the Latino vote,” calls the PSA.
October 5th efforts will take place in more than 30 states, representing a day of reckoning when Latino and immigrant communities in America along with the voices of faith, labor, civil rights and many more groups will send a clear message to Speaker Boehner and the Republican leadership that supporters demand an end to deportations and wasteful spending on the militarization of the border and will continue to mobilize and vote until immigration reform with a path to legalization and citizenship is delivered.
