Latino Immigrant Leaders Join Muslim Community in Prayer at Local Mosque as Part of a National Action.

Alianza Americas and its members pledge to fight back against Trump’s divisive policies. An attack against members of the Muslim community is an attack against all of us.

#WeAreAllAmerica

Last week, the Trump administration issued an executive order that discriminates against Muslim immigrants and essentially shuts down United States refugee resettlement programs. This comes at a time when the world is facing a massive displacement crisis, with over 21 million refugees who desperately need help. The Trump administration’s executive order Muslim ban has sparked protests and criticism around the nation. Chaos and confusion erupted around the globe as hundreds, including children and grandparents, were held in detention, deported, or prevented from boarding flights to the U.S.
WHAT: Alianza Americas, the Mosque Foundation, the Muslim American Society and the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago emphatically reject these atrocious actions by the Administration. These actions are not only unconstitutional but they strike at the core of our fundamental values of humanity and are an assault against everything we believe in as a democracy.
WHO: Alianza Americas board and community members will join our Muslim sisters and brothers in prayer to stand in solidarity and denounce these discriminative policies that serve to exclude and divide our communities. Later that evening, Latino and Muslim immigrant leaders will come together for a community dialogue that seeks to create understanding and form common cause with each other.
WHEN & WHERE: Friday, February 3, 2017 Prayer at 12 p.m. and Program at 12:50 p.m. at the Mosque Foundation, 7360 W. 93rd. St., in Bridgeview, IL (Media & Guests: please park at overflow lot on 93rd. and Harlem). Friday, February 3, 2017 at 6 – 9 p.m. Latino and Muslim Immigrant Leaders Community Dialogue at 1638 S. Blue Island, Chicago IL 60608.
WHY: Alianza Americas, the Mosque Foundation, the Muslim American Societyand the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago remind President Donald Trump that WE – immigrants, Muslims and people of all background and ethnicities are who make America great. We will not sit back while the Muslim community is attacked and scapegoated. As immigrant networks, we know that our nation’s strength comes from our diversity and our long-standing commitment and tradition of helping one another despite our differences. An attack against the Muslim community is an attack against all of us.
